Hey there! Glad we found one another.

I’m Alisha: a journalist, editor, producer and content strategist. I have nine years of experience in growing audiences for digital media companies and publishers. I’m currently the Podcast Lead at the Globe Content Studio — the content marketing agency of The Globe and Mail.

I think a lot about how storytelling can cut through the noise, stand a chance at survival in the attention economy and have a lasting impact. I’m passionate about how we consume news online, and love experimenting with new platforms, storytelling formats and editorial products.

I’m a fan of bold newsroom innovation, community-driven storytelling and user-centered experiences that stretch across every team within an organization — folding in product, data, marketing, editorial, sales, partnerships and events. Building audience relationships that go deeper than a like, retweet or share is the hallmark of my work. I’ve worked on all facets of digital growth, including search optimization, social media, newsletters, analytics, crowdsourcing and reader engagement, mobile alerts, Apple News and newsroom training.

I have a master’s degree in Media Production from Ryerson University. My graduate work looked at how solidarity for women in media has evolved in the face of gendered harassment on social platforms.

I love to write and talk about millennial culture, identity and our relationship with social media. I was the co-host of Born & Raised, HuffPost Canada’s award-winning podcast on the second-generation experience. I’m also the host and executive producer of Lost Voices: An Untold Story of the South Asian Diaspora — a podcast I made with McGill University and The Virtual Museum of Canada.
